Clothing manufacturing cost in Turkey: a buyer’s quotation comparison checklist

There is no responsible fixed answer to clothing manufacturing cost in Turkey without a controlled product specification and commercial scope. To compare quotations, give every supplier the same tech pack, material assumptions, quantity breakdown, approval requirements and delivery basis; then place unit price, one-off charges, exclusions and buyer-supplied items in one comparison sheet. The lowest number is not comparable when it describes a different garment or stops at a different delivery point.

Freeze the priced product before comparing numbers

Attach the exact tech-pack revision, pattern status, finished measurements, bill of materials, construction notes, artwork, labels and packing instructions used for the quotation. If a supplier prices from a reference image while another prices the finished specification, the resulting unit prices describe different products.

Give the quote a product-reference field that includes style, revision, date and colourway scope. List every unresolved decision as an assumption rather than allowing it to disappear inside the total. When the fabric, pattern or component changes, request a clearly revised quotation.

Put the commercial scope beside the unit price

State whether the price covers CMT work from buyer-supplied materials or a wider route that includes material coordination, development, branding and packing. Mark each process as included, excluded, buyer-supplied, provisional or separately charged. Do not use labels such as full package without a line-by-line responsibility split.

Ask where the supplier's responsibility begins and ends for patterns, samples, fabric, trims, cutting, sewing, decoration, finishing, inspection, packaging and delivery handover. A unit price becomes useful only when the obligations behind it can be read.

  • Priced product-file revision
  • Included production operations
  • Buyer-supplied materials or services
  • Exclusions and provisional allowances

Quote the real style, colour and size quantities

Provide units per style, colour and size, not only a collection total. Material purchasing, colour preparation, decoration setup, cutting and line planning may respond to those smaller groups. Ask the manufacturer to state which quantity condition each price uses and whether any component has a separate purchasing minimum.

For alternatives, request defined scenarios such as fewer colours, a shared fabric across styles or a different quantity split. Keep each scenario as a separate priced version. A lower total quantity does not automatically produce the same garment at the same unit price.

Make material assumptions visible

For fabric, record the proposed supplier article or controlled specification, composition, construction, weight, width, colour route and relevant finish. Ask whether the quote uses stock material, custom production or a provisional allowance and whether sampling and bulk are expected to use the same source.

List shell, lining, rib, elastic, thread, closures, labels, packing and every other component separately in the bill of materials. Record approved references, quantity basis, expected wastage treatment, surplus ownership and the written substitution route. Do not accept a material description alone as evidence for a certification or performance claim.

Expose construction and decoration cost drivers

Connect the quotation to the actual panel count, seam and stitch requirements, pockets, closures, linings, reinforcement, pressing, washing and finishing. Complex construction should be represented in the same drawings and sample route used by production, not summarised as an undefined premium.

For print, embroidery or other decoration, identify the artwork revision, method, dimensions, placement, colour count and garment colourways. Ask which proofs, screens, programmes, samples or setup activities are charged once, charged per colour or included in the unit price.

Separate development charges from production price

List pattern development, grading, prototype work, fit samples, size sets, pre-production samples, artwork proofs and courier charges as separate lines where applicable. State how many submissions and revisions are included and what triggers a new charge.

Ask whether any development payment is later credited, retained or treated independently; do not assume a common policy. Record ownership and handover of patterns, files, programmes, screens, moulds or other buyer-funded assets.

Add branding, packing, testing and inspection

Confirm the exact main label, size marker, care label, hangtag, barcode, sticker, individual packaging and carton requirements included. Variable data by size, colour or destination can change the scope even when the garment is unchanged.

List product tests, material tests, third-party inspections, re-inspections and destination-specific evidence separately. Identify who selects and pays the provider and what happens after a failed result. Testing or inspection should not be assumed from a general quality statement.

Name the delivery rule, place and version

A garment price at the factory is not comparable with a price that includes collection, export handling, freight, insurance, import clearance, duties or delivery to a buyer's warehouse. Ask the supplier to list the included transport and border activities, while the buyer confirms import treatment with its broker or adviser.

Where an Incoterms® rule is used, follow the ICC format by naming the chosen rule, the precise place or point and the applicable version—for example, '[rule] [named place or point] Incoterms® 2020'. The rule allocates defined delivery, cost and risk responsibilities; it does not replace the product specification, payment terms or full sales contract.

Control currency, validity, payment and tax assumptions

Record the quotation currency, issue date, validity period and any exchange-rate or raw-material condition stated by the supplier. Confirm whether amounts include or exclude taxes, banking charges, tooling, freight and other named lines. Avoid converting quotes into one currency without preserving the rate and date used for the comparison.

Keep payment stages separate from price. State deposit, balance, milestone, document and bank-charge responsibilities only as agreed commercial terms. Review payment beneficiary details through the buyer's fraud-control process and verify any change using an independent contact route.

Define change control and repeat-order pricing

Agree which product or order changes require repricing and who can approve them. A fabric substitution, revised pattern, additional colour, altered artwork, changed quantity split or new destination can affect several quote lines. Record the change and its commercial effect before production proceeds.

For a repeat order, send the last approved product and quotation references with the new quantity and delivery request. Ask the supplier to confirm current material availability, component references, commercial assumptions and validity. A previous unit price is evidence of an earlier scope, not an automatic offer for the next order.

Request a comparable quotation from Konsey Textile

Konsey Textile's verified public workflow can start from buyer tech packs, design files or reference garments and can coordinate patterns, samples, fabric direction, cutting, sewing, print or embroidery requirements, finishing, inspection, labels and packaging for the agreed programme. Send the controlled product file, quantities by style, colour and size, branding, destination and required delivery basis.

Ask the team to identify inclusions, exclusions, buyer-supplied items, open assumptions and any separate development or service lines. Product feasibility, minimum quantities, price, payment and timing should be confirmed only after the complete brief has been reviewed; this guide does not publish or imply a fixed Konsey price list.

Compare scope before price

For one hoodie, place the two suppliers against the same fabric article, colour and size quantities, construction revision, embroidery, labels, packing and named delivery point. Mark sampling and inspection as separate lines. A cheaper total remains non-comparable until every blank and exclusion is resolved.

  • Priced product and quantity revision
  • Included, excluded and buyer-supplied lines
  • Delivery rule, named place, currency and validity

FAQ

Questions buyers ask

How much does clothing manufacturing cost in Turkey?+

There is no reliable universal price. A usable quotation depends on the exact garment specification, materials, construction, quantities, branding, development, quality requirements, packing and delivery scope.

What should a clothing manufacturing quotation include?+

It should identify the priced product revision, quantities, materials, included operations, buyer-supplied items, development charges, branding, packing, testing, inspection, delivery basis, currency, validity, payment stages and exclusions.

Why are two clothing factory quotations different?+

They may use different fabrics, quantity splits, construction assumptions, development stages, branding, inspection scope or delivery points. Normalize those inputs before treating the prices as competing offers.

Does an Incoterms rule show the full landed cost?+

No. It allocates specified delivery, cost and risk responsibilities between seller and buyer. The parties must still define the named place, version, product scope, payment terms and other contract provisions, and the buyer should confirm import costs separately.
