Custom clothing manufacturing in Turkey: a sample approval checklist

A sample is not just a presentation garment. In custom clothing manufacturing, it is the shared reference that allows a brand and manufacturer to decide what is approved, what needs revision and what must remain consistent.

Review fit against named measurements

Check the garment against the agreed measurement chart, including the points that matter to the silhouette and wearer. Mark comments against a named point rather than using only broad terms such as ‘larger’ or ‘better fit’.

If size grading is part of the programme, keep the approved base size and the grading logic connected to the product file. This makes the feedback usable for the next sample or production stage.

Check fabric behaviour in the finished style

A fabric swatch cannot show how a garment will drape, recover, stretch or sit at a seam. Review the chosen material in the intended product after it has been cut, sewn and finished.

Record fabric construction, composition, colour reference and any relevant handling notes with the sample. This creates a more reliable starting point for repeat styles or colour changes.

Approve branded and finishing details together

Artwork placement, print or embroidery, labels, hangtags, care information and packaging should be reviewed with the garment. They are all part of the customer’s final product experience.

If a material or certification-related statement appears on a label or product page, verify that the wording is supported for the exact order before approval.

Create a clean approval record

Keep the approved physical or photographic reference, final measurement table, bill of materials, artwork files and written comments in one place. Make it clear which version is approved and which points are pending.

A precise approval record helps a custom programme move forward without relying on assumptions between product, sourcing and production teams.
